7th March SKY WATCHING

Space through a Telescope

On 7th March ’09, our school had organized a “sky observation programme at S.V.M. grounds, Bannerghatta Road with assistance of Bangalore Astronomers Association.

All the students were so excited about this that6 the number of students increased to 300.

The Saturday’s atmosphere was filled with curiosity and excitement as the students got on the bus to go to the grounds.

Firstly, we had a small presentation about the constellations presented by Bangalore’s Astronomers Association. There were no electric lights in the ground. The only source of the light was the bright moon.

We saw the Orion constellation in the sky and Tauras which was next to it. We even saw the brightest star “Sirius” and even Venus. All the students lined up to see the Venus in the telescope. It looked liked a cresent moon except that it was of the colour of blue and red.

We were very lucky to see the Saturn through the telescope and enjoy its beauty. We even got to see one of its moon. All the students were overjoyed to even see the moon through the telescope. It looked so different from what we usually see everyday. It was grayish in colour and had crators.

We all enjoyed our evening so much that it was like a trip to the space and we never wanted it to end. But sadly, this trip came to an end. But, this was the experience no one will ever forget.
We thank our beloved Principal for giving us an opportunity to know more about the World outside our earth.
